AND AGAIN is the culmination of the undergraduate careers of 29 multidisciplinary Fine Art students from the University of Leeds. The exhibition brings together a diverse collection of distinctive art practices.

The title AND AGAIN refers to the cyclical nature of the creative process as well as reflecting on the returning pattern of degree shows.

AND AGAIN is undeniably another degree show in this tradition, yet it also acts as a reminder of the importance of practitioners continuing to think and make as they move through a transitioning period in culture and their own lives. AND AGAIN is not a conclusion to a creative education, but a necessary junction at the start of the artistic development of this group of individuals.

The imminent move of the university studios from their current locations to a new central building mirrors the changing state of the spaces that the exhibiting artists may find themselves in after graduating.

AND AGAIN reflects on the notion that change is an always present quality of the contemporary art sphere. This is true particularly in the North of England which is quickly proceeding to the foreground of the lexicon of contemporary British Art.

As artists we will continue to reposition ourselves; this idea of mobility relates to the conversations we are having in regards to the disposition of the degree show.
A practice in multidisciplinary art has taught us to be adaptable in world that seems to pose the question: ‘what can artists do?’

AND AGAIN attempts to answer this question both in terms of the varied works on display, but also more broadly in reference to the surely wide variety of careers that we will embark on.
